SPCA World Animal Day 2013

We had a blast at SPCA World Animal Day today. It was Day 2 of the three day event and the crowd there was huge~! Just going to be sharing some photos of the event.

Almost all corners of the event area was filled with activities. There were adoption drives, animal welfare awareness campaigns and fund raisings by the animal shelters and welfare groups. Lots of nice T-shirts with interesting prints to buy from the booths. I have got to get myself one tomorrow! Its just one of the ways of giving support to them.
Goodie bags are the main highlights of any events, so we took a picture of the contents for our readers. All laid out on a table, we see picture books, folders, stickers, pens and sample foods from FirstMate! How generous!

Crowds, crowds and more crowds. Everyone were busy taking photos but the best thing was that all of them had a smile on their faces. There's also a artist drawing live portraits for people. Talk about capturing the moment with your pencils.

Aah Hah! Even Garfield was there performing a live dance on stage. He really hyped up the crowd with his moves!

Winner of "One Minute of Fame" Talent Show

There are also lots of other mascots around for photo taking, free of charge. So do bring your kids and friends there for some fun and games tomorrow, Sunday 15/9/13. It would be the last day of the event.

Let us celebrate World Animal day, and most importantly, the message of responsible pet ownership that the event wishes to bring across to its visitors.

Upcoming Pet Event: SPCA World Animal Day

Does anyone feel that Singapore is really lacking much in pets' events? Sulk no more! The next one that's coming up would be SPCA World Animal Day!

To celebrate World Animal Day, SPCA will be organizing pet talent competitions, pet care talks and plenty of activities for everyone! The best of all? Its going to be 3 days long! It starts on Friday 13th September to Sunday 15th September. It starts from 11 am to 7.30 pm daily.

This indoor event is organised in partnership with AVA and will be held at United Square at Novena. The event will also feature nine other local animal welfare groups - ACRES, Cat Welfare Society, House Rabbit Society of Singapore, Action for Singapore Dogs, Animal Lovers League, Save Our Street Dogs, Humane Society (Singapore), Causes for Animals Singapore and Noah's Ark CARES.

Phew, that's a long list of welfare groups. Do visit the event to support your favorite groups! If you have heard of them and wish to meet them in person, this will be the perfect chance. I believe a simple, "Thank You for your work" will certainly be much of a morale booster for these welfare groups. Adoption Drives will also be held, so if you are ready to welcome a new family member, do consider adopting. One adopted means one free space at the shelters for the next abandoned or stray. Save 2 lives!

There will also be pet grooming and obedience demonstrations, so don't miss the chance to get some tips and tricks.

PawMart has also invited FirstMate Pet Foods to be the sponsors for the 1 Minute of Fame Dog Talent Show on Saturday 14th September and Sunday 15th September. Lots of prizes to be won! Do register your pet if he/she has a special talent to show! Just a sneak peek at the prizes...

That's just a small portion of it. Participate to win it! There will also be goodie bags with FirstMate Pet Food samples. Of course, the PawMart Team will be there. Do come by and say hello if you bump into us!

See you there!

Peanut's 5th Birthday!

Congratulations to Peanut, our huge little Chihuahua! It has been a good five years on Earth for him~

To celebrate this occasion, we ordered a nice little cake for him from The Barkery Singapore. Packaging was lovely and it also came with a candle stick.

This is the second time our dogs had cakes from The Barkery. Santi brought hers along the last time she came to stay and all of them loved it. We had bought pet pastries from other shops before but our two doggies were just too picky.

To our delight, the wordings we requested were done beautifully. Peanut stared at the cake intently while we were preparing to cut it. Can't wait! He kept licking his lips while waiting.

The cake we ordered was a standard round birthday cake, 5 inches and 450 grams. Serves up to 4 dogs. Total damage, $18. Seeing him overjoyed - Priceless. ( Though he normally shows a poker face)

Don't be fooled by the cream or fancy food coloring. The birthday cake is actually made of delicious meat loaves with all natural ingredients. It contains human grade beef, carrots, celery and pumpkin, topped with mashed potatoes.

All three of them were ready to feast on the tasty looking cake. It actually looked so good that I was tempted to just take a bite too~

Clenching my teeth and with a strong determination, I left the cakes to the dogs and they had a good time munching away. Must have been heavenly tasting for them when everything was finished in a matter of seconds. I WANT SOME....... wondering if The Barkery made human cakes?

"Thank you, The Barkery, for making such delectable cakes for dogs. Next time buy me a BIGGER one!"

So says Peanut, the birthday boy!

Good stuff, so must intro to you guys.

Pet Asia 2013

Pet Asia 2013 (30 May 2013 - 2 June 2013)

Programme list
Pet Asia Entrance

The long awaited Pet Asia 2013 is finally here! It's the 4th time this pet and accessories exhibition has been organized. This is the first time it was organized at Marina Bay Sands Expo Hall. We signed up about 1 month before to go as traders, just to have a look and feel of the event. Other than that, we also met and talked to other traders of the pet industry from other parts of the world. There were traders from Japan, Taiwan and also Singapore. The 4 days event was lined up with activities including seminars, DGA grooming certification, dog obedience and agility competitions.

The exhibition was crowded with visitors from all over. There were also parents bringing their kids there though they don't have a pet animal. Some of the booths were decorated nicely with different themes and I heard from an insider that one such booth costs over $X0000! Goodness.... There were alot of visitors who were grabbing goodies from the booths as great deals were given everywhere like the Great Singapore Sale.

The last day of the exhibition ended with the agility competitions. This was a open standard competition and the participants were all by invitation only. It was also the first ever Pet Asia Invitational competition. The dogs were all veterans in the competition arena, having at least won some titles before. It took quite some time for the organizers to set up the ground, and we waited for a good 40 mins before the first dog started. Lucky we were indoors! Usually agility competitions were held outdoors.

There were small, medium and large breed dogs categories. My favorite was the Chihuahua! It was unbelievable that he managed to complete the course with such grace. Everytime he jumped I keep imagining a "bionk" sound in my head. Though there was some hiccups in between, but he was so cute that made everyone smiled. I was actually wondering if our Peanut can do anything like that. Nah.. impossible. He's too fat.

Anyway, above is a video clip of the rundown, hope that you guys enjoy it. Sorry for the shaky hands.. old already...

And finally, we have come to the end of Pet Asia 2013. We were glad to be part of this event. Looking forward to the next one in 2015. Remember the date! See ya!

Signing off @ 5.15 am

Honda MovieMob Pet Fiesta April 2013

Honda MovieMob Pet Fiesta April 2013

The Honda MovieMob Pet Fiesta was presented by APE in April 2013. The evening started out warm and humid, with the sun still scorching down our faces while we were setting up our booth. Slowly the weather became cooler and the movie-goers started arriving. People were queing up for the Pet Fiesta goodie bags, hot dogs, drinks, popcorns and candy flosses, ready to enjoy the heart warming, tear jerking movie " Marley and Me ". Just as the sky darkened, we hear the thunders roaring. A heavy downpour followed suit and the event was forced to cancelled. Such a pity.
Though the rain was a real let down, but to those who were there, the event was a success. Thanks to APE and the DJs from Power 98, the pre movie activities were fun and entertaining with agility and obedience demonstrations. Dear Lord, please bless us with good weather for the next MovieMob!

The movie "Go, Masao!" , with SMAP's Shingo Katori starring as Matsumoto, a struggling comedian who is initially overjoyed when he's invited to appear on a pet-themed variety show starring a goofy dog named Masao-kun. Unfortunately, his luck quickly takes a turn for the worse as his girlfriend (Ryoko Hirosue) leaves him to marry another man and Masao proves nearly impossible to handle. However, his attitude changes one day when he's injured during filming and Masao immediately rushes to aid him. After that incident, Matsumoto decides to form a permanent duo with Masao.
We were honoured to be invited as one of the sponsors for the movie's goodie bags by Golden Village Singapore. If you have not watched this movie, its already out in DVDs. A real heartwarming movie. And of course, I cried as usual...

This was a fundraising event organised by NTU Animal Lovers Society for Campus Dog Project and selected animal shelters. The funds raised went towards paying for the expenses involved in taking care of the dogs like sterilisations, vaccinations and microchippings. Thank you NTU Animal Lovers Society, for inviting PawMart as the sponsor for the goodie bags and games event prizes. Loads of pet food samples were also given out that day to raise awareness of healthy feeding.

Animal Day is an annual event to raise awareness for animal welfare and to simply take the time to appreciate their existence in our lives. The event was held at SMU’s Campus Green and patrons were encouraged to bring their pets to participate in the day’s festivities. There were competitions for dogs and cats, a parrot show and an adoption drive. PawMart was lucky to be invited as one of the sponsors by the SMU Animal Day organizers and had a booth set up so that people can patronize. There were also goodie bags up for grabs!
And that's our humble booth for the day (top left) . God blessed us with the good sunny weather. The event successfully ended after some games and fun with the participants on the stage. Ninja (top right), the smart border collie who won most of the games, ending the event with a happy "woof" ! Looking forward to 2013!

Being the appointed pet service provider for Oasis, PawMart was invited to set up a booth at the Flea Market to facilitate and encourage donations. We arrived there early to set up shop, but the enthusiastic volunteers were there even earlier! Kudos to them! It started slow in the morning, with few visitors.
Towards the afternoon, crowds came flooding in and the event bustled with life. Everyone was so busy with all the selling and buying of the donated items. Donations via PawMart from the visitors also started to come in too. The event was a success, raising a substaintial amount of funds. Thanks to all who came!
