PawMart's Visit to Hou Tong Cat Village 侯硐貓村 (Taiwan Taipei)

PawMart's Visit to Hou Tong Cat Village 侯硐貓村 (Taiwan Taipei)
Signages  On the way in

We've finally got a chance to visit this popular Cat Village that we've read so much about on the Internet. The village is located at Hou Tong Train Station in Tai Pei. We woke up late that morning (as usual), and got there almost at mid noon after all the travelling. The weather on the hills was cooling, around 20 ° C. We were welcomed by cute signages from the moment we stepped out of the train.
Cat House  Dogs among Cats
As we entered the village, what we saw was unbelievable. Cats and dogs lived among the humans peacefully. The villagers even built cat houses for the felines! That is certainly unseen before in Singapore. The kind villagers fed the 120 cats with can foods daily that are donated by the public and the animal welfare association there. And of course, you are thinking of all the poop that you may step on while you're there. Suprisingly, the paths were exceptionally clean. All the friendly animals there gladly let us take photos of them, some will even pose for you intentionally. :)
Cat stall  Cat Store
Regrettably, we were unable to give a cash donation to the villagers or association over there due to their "No Cash Donation Policy". They strongly encourage the public to do item donations instead, such as can food or kibbles. You can bring along cat or dog food for the animals over there if you are planning to visit or make a donation. The villagers also sell items such as cute key chains and postcards to raise money to feed the animals there. So do patronize their stalls and buy something if you can afford it, cause your money will go to helping the animals there.
Team At Houtong   Sleeping peacefully
We strolled in the village for 2 hours, taking pictures of this heavenly place. How nice would it be, if we can have a secluded village like that in Singapore where all our strays can live peacefully in. No more culling, no more abuse. Hou Tong Village is indeed a Heaven on Earth for the homeless strays. Do travel there to take a look if you are visiting Taiwan. You won't regret it.
